+
What is the maximum transfer size?

Without a pack, GrosFichiers lets you send up to 10 GB per transfer for free. With a pack, the maximum transfer size increases to 50 GB per transfer.

A transfer can contain one large file or multiple files, within the maximum size and file-count limits.

No. You can send and receive files with GrosFichiers without creating an account and without registering.

You only need a valid email address to send your files.

+
Is GrosFichiers really free?

Yes. You can send up to 10 GB of files per transfer for free, with no registration required.

The free service is mainly funded by advertising displayed on the website. Optional Standard and Pro packs increase certain limits, remove advertising and provide additional features.

+
What are the benefits of the Standard and Pro packs?

Packs are available for different periods and come with no automatic renewal.

View all features, durations and prices on our Standard and Pro packs page.

+
Can I customize the download page with my logo and colors?

Yes, with the Pro pack. You can customize the page where your recipients download their files with your logo and your brand color.

This lets you present your transfers in a customized environment, particularly useful for businesses and professionals who want to maintain their visual identity when sending files to clients or partners.

This customization is included with the Pro pack. See details of our Standard and Pro packs.

+
How many recipients can I send files to?

You can send your files to up to 30 recipients per transfer.

Each recipient receives an email containing a link to download the files.

+
How many files can I send at once?

Without a pack, you can send up to 300 files per transfer, within the 10 GB limit.

With a Standard pack, this limit increases to 500 files. With a Pro pack, it increases to 1,000 files. The maximum transfer size with a pack is 50 GB.

Files are not automatically compressed or grouped together, so your recipients can choose which files they want to download.

+
Can I send an entire folder?

Yes. At the first step of a transfer, GrosFichiers lets you select individual files or an entire folder.

This allows you to transfer the contents of a folder without having to select each file manually. The same transfer size and file-count limits apply.

+
How long do my files remain available?

Files sent with GrosFichiers remain available for 14 days after the transfer.

At the end of this period, they are automatically deleted unless their availability has been extended.

+
Can I extend the availability of my files for free?

Yes. Two days before your files expire, GrosFichiers sends you an email allowing you to extend their availability by 7 days free of charge.

This extension can be renewed, allowing a transfer to remain available for up to 6 months.

+
Can I resume an interrupted upload?

Yes. GrosFichiers lets you resume an interrupted upload without having to restart the entire transfer from the beginning.

Data that has already been transferred can be retained so the upload can continue from where it stopped. This partial transfer recovery feature is particularly useful for large files or when your Internet connection is temporarily interrupted or unstable.

+
Can I resume an interrupted download?

Yes. GrosFichiers lets you resume an interrupted file download without having to restart the entire download from the beginning.

Data already downloaded can be retained so the download can continue from where it stopped. This feature is particularly useful for large files and unstable Internet connections.

+
Can I recover a file after it has expired?

No. Once a transfer has definitively expired, the files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers.

They can no longer be recovered by GrosFichiers. The recipient must ask the sender to send the files again.

+
How can I tell whether my transfer was received and downloaded?

Several methods allow you to track your transfer:
  • Download notification: when an individual link sent to a recipient is used to download a file for the first time, you automatically receive an email notification.
  • Transfer management page: it allows you to view the download history. When a recipient uses their individual link, the download is associated with the email address to which that link was sent. A download made using the global link, however, cannot be attributed to a specific recipient.
  • My transfers: the My transfers page lets you view your recent transfers and their download history.
  • Read receipt: when sending your files, you can request a receipt from the recipient. Depending on their email software, this feature may not be available and the recipient remains free to respond or not.
  • Incorrect address: if an email cannot be delivered to a recipient, you receive a message informing you.

Please note: if a recipient forwards their individual link to another person, downloads made using that link will remain associated with the recipient to whom the link was originally sent.

+
What can I do from the transfer management page?

Your transfer management page brings together all useful information about your transfer and allows you to perform several actions after it has been sent.

You can notably:
  • View transfer information: sender, date sent, message subject, recipients and file availability period.
  • Download the files: the global download link gives access to the files in the transfer.
  • View the download history: you can track downloads and, when a recipient uses their individual link, associate them with the email address to which that link was sent.
  • Send to another recipient: enter a new email address to resend the same files, with the same subject and message.
  • Create a new transfer with this information: this feature takes you back to the GrosFichiers homepage with the information from your previous transfer pre-filled, including the sender, recipients, subject and message. You can then edit this information, select new files and create a new transfer.
  • Delete files: you can delete individual files from the transfer or delete the entire transfer.

The page also shows the transfer expiry date. Before this date, you will receive an email allowing you to extend the availability of the files by 7 days free of charge, up to a maximum total duration of 6 months.

+
How fast can I upload or download my files?

Transfer speed mainly depends on your Internet connection. GrosFichiers does not intentionally limit your transfer speed.

When uploading, the upload speed of your Internet connection is the main factor determining how quickly your files are sent. Upload speeds are often lower than the download speeds advertised by Internet service providers.

When downloading, speed mainly depends on the recipient's download connection and current network conditions.

You can test your Internet connection at www.speedtest.net.

+
Where are my files stored?

Files transferred with GrosFichiers are stored on our own servers, located in France.

These servers act as a relay between the sender and recipients while the transfer remains available.

+
Who can download the files I send?

When you send files, GrosFichiers generates a global download link for the sender and an individual link for each recipient.

Anyone with a valid download link can access the corresponding files. A recipient can therefore forward their link to another person. We recommend sharing links only with the people the files are intended for.

Individual links allow downloads to be associated with the email address of the recipient to whom the link was sent. If the link is forwarded to another person, downloads made using that link will remain associated with the original recipient.

Downloads made using the global link, however, cannot be attributed to a specific email address.

+
Are my files secure during transfer?

Communications between your browser and GrosFichiers are protected by a secure HTTPS connection using TLS. This protection applies when uploading and downloading files.

Encryption protects communications between your browser and our servers. It is not end-to-end encryption of the files themselves.

+
Does GrosFichiers comply with the GDPR?

GrosFichiers complies with the requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).

For more information about the data we process, how it is used and your rights, please read our privacy and cookie policy.

+
Can I send and download files on a smartphone or tablet?

Yes. GrosFichiers works directly in the browser on smartphones and tablets, including Android devices, iPhone and iPad.

No GrosFichiers app is required. You can send and download files directly from your browser.

+
Which browsers and operating systems are compatible with GrosFichiers?

GrosFichiers works with the main modern web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera.

The service can be used on computers, smartphones and tablets running Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone or iPad.

For the best compatibility and security, we recommend using a recent version of your browser.

+
My recipient did not receive my transfer: what should I do?

If a recipient has not received the email containing their download link, check the following:
  • Check the Spam or Junk folder: this is the most common cause.
  • Add our address to contacts: the recipient can add noreply@grosfichiers.com to their contacts or safe-sender list.
  • Check the recipient's address: make sure the email address entered when sending the transfer is correct.
  • Check the transfer status: from the My transfers page, you can confirm that the transfer was completed and view its download history.
  • Send the link directly: if necessary, you can copy the download link from your transfer management page and send it directly to your recipient.

If the problem persists, you can contact us.

Do I have to pay to download a file received with GrosFichiers?

No. Downloading a file received with GrosFichiers is free and does not require registration or payment details.

If a page asks you to enter your payment details in order to download a file, it is most likely an advertisement or a third-party service and not GrosFichiers.

If you have made an unwanted payment to a third-party service, you should identify the website or organization that received the payment and contact them directly to request cancellation or a refund.

+
How can I send a file that is too large for email?

Email providers generally limit the size of file attachments. GrosFichiers lets you send large files without attaching them directly to the email.

You can transfer up to 10 GB for free with no registration, or up to 50 GB with a pack.

The files are transferred to GrosFichiers servers and your recipients then receive an email containing a link to download them.
